多治見邸 / Tajimi flat

A room in a condominium with an open view to the southeast, near a station in Suginami, a district of low-rise residences. The furniture and antiques, which are rich in character and taste, were all collected by the residents as their hobbies. The room had been remodeled before, and the design for this project came about in the process of further remodeling. New elements were added by carefully considering the size and proportions of each material. Scaffolding boards that had been used for shelving were affixed to the ceiling, and wooden fixtures with a similar texture were newly made, so that the sudden appearance of something new would not spoil the airy feeling.
