Vertical Logs And Stilts-A Floating Forest Home For Students

'Dugout columns, freestanding logs.'
Forest school facility for elementary school students. The vitality of the vast forest is utilized in the architecture. The simple structure consists of log “pillars” and a floating “wide floor” topped by a deep eave “cover. The structure is a one-story building with a gate-shaped rigid-frame structure made of exposed timber. The massive presence and transparency of the building, accompanied by the unique scale of the wood, is reminiscent of traditional architecture from ancient times. The texture and fragrance of the materials evoke feelings of warmth and nostalgia. The logs are not sawn timbers, but rather the column heads are cut and left standing in the forest as if they were the order of a “primitive hut”.
