『建築の「あり方」と「あらわれ方」の展開』
企画概要
このたび、若松の前橋工科大学教授職退官を機に、これまでの設計活動とその思考を振り返る記念展示および講演を開催いたしました。
建築の「あり方」と「あらわれ方」の展開
実体としての建築を経験してきて初めて得られた実感、理解したこと、腑に落ちたこと、あらためて気づかされたことについて、『「あり方」と「あらわれ方」の展開』と題して取りまとめました。ここでいう「あり方」とは、小さな部材、部位から大きな空間単位まで、さまざまな部分を集めひとつのまとまりとする方法を指しています。それぞれの部分は全体の構成要素であり、何をどのように集めるか(how,what)という判断の総体を「あり方」と呼んでいます。一方で、「あらわれ方」とは、その「あり方」を通して建物が可視的な姿として現象することを示しています。「あり方」それ自体は直接的な形を持たないですが、建物はその「あり方」の枠組みを通して眼に見える姿、かたちとなって立ち現れます。
「あり方」と「あらわれ方」の関係は、あらかじめ「あり方」が定まり、その結果として「あらわれ方」がある、一方向的な考え方のみではなく、具体的に滲み出てきた姿から翻って見返す、双方向的なものであるべきと考えています。様々な要素・要因が複雑に絡み合う建築において、両者は往復的に補完し合う関係であり、切り離しては考えられないものと捉えています。
建物を成立させるさまざまな要素・要因を、「周辺環境との関係」「外形とファサード」「内部と外部の集まり方」「インテリアの要素」「素材・部材・部位」という5つの項目に分け、これまで手掛けてきた建築作品をふりかえりました。[若松均]

To mark the retirement of Hitoshi Wakamatsu from his position as professor at Maebashi Institute of Technology, we held a commemorative exhibition and lecture to reflect on his design work and thought process to date.
The Evolution of “Essence” and “Manifestation”
I have compiled my experiences, insights, realizations, and new discoveries—gained only through direct engagement with architecture as a tangible entity—under the title “The Evolution of ‘Essence’ and ‘Manifestation.’”
I believe that the relationship between “essence” and “manifestation” should not be limited to a one-way perspective—where the “essence” is predetermined and the “manifestation” is merely a result of that—but should instead be a two-way process in which we reflect on the “essence” by looking back at the concrete forms that have emerged.
I categorized the various elements and factors that make up a building into five categories—“Relationship with the Surrounding Environment,” “Exterior Form and Facade,” “The Interplay Between Interior and Exterior,” “Interior Elements,” and “Materials, Components, and Parts”—and reflected on the architectural projects I have worked on to date.「Hitoshi Wakamatsu]
